Celtic Weave Bag

I haven't updated this blog for a quite while. Life is busy as usual but it doesn't stop me to knit and crochet! 

I created and listed this Celtic Weave Bag Pattern for a while in early spring this year. I designed it for my daughter who always wanted to have a tote bag with texture. So I thought a basket weaving pattern would be perfect! This pattern has plenty of pictures to guide you step by step. Although it’s an advanced crochet stitch that takes a little practice, it’s easy to remember once you get the hang of it.

Today we went to Princeton University for a walk. The weather wasn't too nice, strong wind and rain, but we had a good time walking, talking, and drinking coffee in the campus! 🍁🍂☕

NEW & Updated! MINI Twin Babies Amigurumi (Pattern)

New Design: Little Bunny (Pattern)

Wow! I haven't written any blog since 2016! OMG! I almost forgot to update my new designs here! Life is busy as usual but it doesn't stop me to create.....In these past years, I mostly focused on knitting rather than crocheting. I've knitted many beautiful knitwear. During this difficult pandemic time, I have created few crochet designs. One of them is this Little Bunny! I was inspired by a newborn bunny in my backyard one day in early spring, just before Easter! The bunny was so cute who was in brown but also had a patch of white fur near the tail. Therefore I made a pattern of a bunny right away! Hope that everyone is doing well during this difficult time and stay safe and healthy!

Daisy Granny Square Cushion Pillow

I think I've been fallen in love with granny squares!  I used to be scared of making granny squares because I have no patience to make many of them and join them together. I was once making a piano cover with granny square. I made 30 of them then I quit.  The squares became coasters in the kitchen!

I think I've been growing old enough (not a granny yet!) to patiently crochet granny squares now! I'd say I love it!  When the Stitch Studio Storybook lullaby yarns were on sale at A.C. Moore, I bought dozen of them - every single color! They've been sitting in the closet for a while and I was thinking how to get rid of them. I used them to make amigurumi dolls but I still couldn't finish them.  Suddenly granny square just popped up in my mind and I made two beautiful cushions with these yarns!  The small cushion is 12"x16" which is a perfect size for me and the square one is 16"x16" (16 squares in total, huh!). They're bought at Walmart under $3 each! Great deal! So, two cushions were made for my daughters! They of course love them!

Unfortunately, they're made by freehand so I don't have a pattern.  After I posted it on Facebook, so many people were asking for a pattern. Sorry ladies, I'm too lazy to write the pattern in words but I drew a diagram of the granny square. Is that ok?  For the back, many people asked, what it looks like.....it's nothing!  Just double crochet in white yarn with 3 buttons for opening! If you'd prefer, you can double the number of squares so that both sides look the same. Therefore, the buttons would be at the edge.

This is how I block the squares by using an empty Kleenex Tissue Box. Stick 4 bamboo sticks inside the box and through the bottom!

ahhhh.....I always have trouble to name the Treble Crochet...tr or tc? I'm confused!

 

Twin Babies Amigurumi (Pattern)

Are these twin babies so cute? They are my designs for a cousin who is carrying boy-girl twins. The boy is in a gray color baby jumpsuit with a bear hat! And the girl is wearing a pink dress with a hat of a bunny! They are great gifts for baby showers or kids' birthdays! You may find these patterns on Ravelry and Etsy. Mini Girls Amigurumi (Pattern)

Are these girls cute! I was inspired by my 2 daughters and their friend K - BFF! Each of the girls is wearing a bunny hat, kitty hat and bear hat with a matching color dress with accessories. They are great gifts for any girls or yourself! You may find this pattern on Ravelry or Etsy. This pattern contains many pictures to guide you through how to make all three mini girls and their accessories!

Cuite Girls - Cherry (amigurumi)

We had beautiful cherry blossom last month in April.  It's so pleasant to see colorful flowers and grass when spring comes!  I made this Cutie Girls series - Cherry for spring. Do you like it?

A Nurse Doll for a Friend (amigurumi)

I'm so surprised and sad to hear that a friend of mine got burnt on her chest and neck while she was cooking dinner for her family! While she was cooking, fire caught on her shirt and it burned all the way up to her chin. She got 3rd degree of burning. I feel so sad to hear that! I can only keep her in prayers as well as making this doll to cheer her up. Let her know that God loves her and He's always with her!  By the way, she is a registered nurse that's why this doll is in a nurse uniform!

Tohsaka Rin amigurumi

Do you like Japanese manga or anime? Or are you familiar with those characters? Honestly, I like the beautiful pictures and characters but I know almost nothing about them!  My friend posted his new toy on facebook which was a Nendoroid figure of Tohsaka Rin. It's so cute and pretty and I got inspired to make this amigurumi!

 

Amigurumi Doll - Purple Lollipop

I recently fall in love of making "people" amigurumi.  I started making amigurumi since 6 years ago but only limited in creating "animals" amigurumi. I was so hesitate to make "people" just because I had no confidence to do their hair! Another reason was it's hard to find a natural flesh color like yarn.  Many ami friends suggested few brand and color of yarns online and I found that Caron Simply Soft in Lt Country Peach is the best of all!  

This little doll was made by the Lt Country Peach color yarn. Do you think she looks great?  I made her a simple purple dress and embroidered beads and yarn on the dress.  My daughter loves this doll so much and she names her "Purple Lollipop".  Do you think she is as sweet as a lollipop?

Cats.....more cats!!!

I never knew that I like cats so much! They're more than any other animals I have made. Poll: Which one do you like? 

Bunny Katie

This little cute bunny is named after a girl's name Katie because it's for her 11th Birthday!  Her pink dress is removable which has a touch of a brown belt. So adorable. This patter is available for purchase on Ravelry.

Christmas Snowman Ornament (Free Pattern)

It's been a while that I didn't update this blog! I didn't stop crocheting, indeed, many patterns are posted on Ravelry.com.

Snowman Ornament Crochet Pattern

Height: Approximately 5”x3.5”

Materials:

Red Heart Super Saver yarn in White and Orange

Red Heart Super Saver yarn in any color of your choice (I use Green in this pattern for earmuffs)

A pair of 9mm black safety eyes

Yarn needle

Fiberfill stuffing

Size H-8 (5mm)

Nose

With Orange yarn, Ch 2

Rnd 1: work 4sc in the 2^nd ch from hook

Rnd 2: work 2sc in each st around (8 sts)

Rnd 3-4: sc 8 (8 sts)

Fasten Off. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Head
With White yarn, Ch 2

Rnd 1: work 6sc in the 2^nd ch from hook

Rnd 2: work 2sc in each st around (12 sts)

Rnd 3: *1sc in next st, 2sc in next st; rep from * around (18 sts)

Rnd 4: *1sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next st; rep from * around (24 sts)

Rnd 5: *1sc in next 3 sts, 2sc in next st; rep from * around (30 sts)

Rnd 6: *1sc in next 4 sts, 2sc in next st; rep from * around (36 sts)

Rnds 7-12: sc 36 (36 sts)

Rnd 13: *1sc in next 4 sts, dec 1; rep from * around (30 sts)

Rnd 14: *1sc in next 3 sts, dec 1; rep from * around (24 sts)

Work on face: Sew the nose on face. Position and attach the black eyes with safety backings (washers).

Rnd 15: *1sc in next 2 sts, dec 1; rep from * around (18 sts)

Rnd 16: *1sc in next 1 st, dec 1; rep from * around (12 sts)

Stuff Head

Rnd 17: dec 1, 6 times around (6 sts)

Fasten Off.

Earmuff
With Green yarn, Ch 2

Rnd 1: work 6sc in the 2^nd ch from hook

Rnd 2: work 2sc in each st around (12 sts)

Change to White yarn

Rnd 3: *1sc in next st, 2sc in next st; rep from * around (18 sts)

Change to Green yarn

Rnd 4: *1sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next st; rep from * around (24 sts)

Rnd 5-6: sc 24 (24 sts)

Fasten Off and leave a long tail.  Stuff and sew to the side of the head.  Make 2.

Band of the earmuff

With Green yarn

Ch 12 (depends on how far the 2 circle earmuffs are attached to the head. You need to measure the distance on top of the head), ch 1, turn

Row 1: start from 2^nd ch from hook, sc each ch to the end (12 sts)

Fasten Off. Leave a long tail to sew to the earmuff circles on each side.

Attach a piece of yarn or chain 30 on top of the head for hanging.
