Lily the Turtle (Free Pattern)

One day I saw a little turtle amigurumi posted by a friend on facebook.  It was a turtle that his girl friend made him!  It's so cute and inspired me to make one for myself at once!  I searched for my two yarn-filled storage boxes and found these left over Vanna's Choice yarns! They are soft and great for ami!  I named it Lily the Turtle just because it popped up the name of Lily of this beautiful rose color!

Lily the Turtle

Finished size: approximately 6”x4.5”x2”

Materials:
Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Dusty Rose
Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Linen

(or any worsted-weight yarn and colors of your choice)

A pair of black safety eyes, 6mm

Fiberfill

Hook: size G

Body
Using Dusty Rose color

R1: Ch 2, 6sc in the second chain from hook. 

Change to Linen color

R2: 2sc in each sc around. (12sts) 

Change to Dusty Rose color

R3: *Sc 1, 2sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. (18sts)

Change to Linen color

R4: *Sc 2, 2sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. (24sts)

Change to Dusty Rose color

R5: *Sc 3, 2sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. (30sts)

Change to Linen color

R6: *Sc 4, 2sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. (36sts)

Change to Dusty Rose color

R7: *Sc 5, 2sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. (42sts)

Change to Linen color and Dusty Rose color alternatively

R8-R12: sc 42. (42sts)

Keep using Linen color from now on

R13: Through back loops only (This row only),

       *sc 5, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (36sts)

R14: *sc 4, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (30sts)

R15: *sc 3, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (24sts)

R16: *sc 2, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (18sts)

Stuff Body

R17: *sc 1, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (12sts)

R18: *sk 1sc, sc 1*, rep 6 times. (6sts)

R19: *sk 1sc, sc 1*, rep 3 times. (3sts)

Fasten Off and weave in ends.

Head

Use Linen color

R1: Ch 2, 6sc in the second chain from hook.

R2: 2sc in each sc around. (12sts)

R3: *Sc 1, 2sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. (18sts)

R4-R7: sc 18. (18sts)

Attach eyes and stuff head.

R8: *sc 1, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (12sts)

Fasten off.  Leave a long tail and sew to the body

Legs (make 4)

Use Linen color

R1: Ch 2, 6sc in the second chain from hook.

R2: 2sc in each sc around. (12sts)

R3-4: sc 12. (12sts)

Stuff legs and leave a long tail. Then sew to the body accordingly.

Tail

Use Linen color

R1: Ch 2, 6sc in the second chain from hook.

R2-3: sc 6. (6sts)

Stuff and leave a long tail. Then sew to the body
